Laguna Vere's derelict brutalist water sports complex in Tbilisi presented a clear challenge: how to bring a heritage structure back into public use without erasing what made it distinctive. Venue Architects' competition entry reimagines the site as a linear urban sports park. The central arena and 5,500-seat grandstand are repurposed for public and elite urban sports such as skate competitions, converting for open-air concerts and outdoor cinema when required. The original entrance building becomes a café and bar-led arrival point, anchoring the site's day-to-day public life.
