PETER RICHARDSON
BA(Hons), BArch, ARB, RIBA
ARB Registered Architect, RIBA Chartered Member
Peter Richardson is the founder of Venue Architects, a specialist design practice focused on sports, event, and experiential venues. The studio is built on a clear conviction: that successful venues are defined not only by architectural quality, but by how effectively they perform in use, operationally, commercially, and experientially.
With over 25 years of experience delivering complex, high-profile projects, Peter combines design leadership with hands-on operational insight across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage feasibility and concept design through to construction delivery and live event operation. This includes key client-side roles on two of the world's most demanding sporting events: the London 2012 Olympic Games and the England 2015 Rugby World Cup, providing an intimate understanding of how venues must function under the pressures of major international competition.
Prior to establishing Venue Architects, Peter was a Director at WOO Architects, leading the practice's sports and entertainment architecture projects, including those at Wembley Stadium, Camp Nou Barcelona, and Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. This experience shaped a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach that consistently balances design ambition with technical rigour, programme certainty, and operational performance.
Venue Architects operates as a lean, director-led studio, collaborating with trusted specialist partners to assemble the right expertise for each commission. This model enables agility, clarity of decision-making, and consistently high-quality output. The practice focuses on the adaptation and enhancement of existing venues, alongside the design of temporary and demountable environments, supporting clients to unlock value through targeted, intelligent interventions.
Peter's work is driven by a commitment to creating venues that are not only visually compelling, but robust, efficient, and enduring- creating places that perform at the highest level for operators, users, and the cities they serve.
